Mega Awareness Campaign on Indian Grey Wolf Conservation

POSTED ON: 29 May 2026

On 29.05.2026, WINGS, in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT) and the Burdwan Forest Division, successfully organized a Mega Awareness Campaign under the Indian Grey Wolf Conservation Project at Burdwan Zoological Park, Purba Bardhaman.

🌿 Distinguished Participants:

The programme was graced by Ms. Sanchita Sharma (DFO, Burdwan Division), Range Officers from Panagarh, Durgapur, Guskara, and Katwa Ranges, along with more than 50 dedicated forest personnel.

The event focused on disseminating knowledge and insights gathered during the ongoing study on the Indian Grey Wolf. Through an engaging presentation, our Secretary Dr. Arkajyoti Mukherjee shared the key findings of the project, highlighted the urgent conservation challenges facing the species, and emphasized the importance of community engagement, policy advocacy, and collaborative action for its long-term survival.

Meaningful interactions and informed policy influence are crucial steps toward ensuring the conservation of this ecologically important predator and promoting coexistence between wolves and local communities.

🙏 We extend our sincere gratitude to the West Bengal Forest Department and the Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT) for their invaluable support and partnership. Together, we are working towards a safer and more secure future for the Indian Grey Wolf.🐾
