DURGAPUR BARRAGE BIRD WALK
Durgapur Barrage Bird Walk is an annual event by WINGS. It was started during February 2015. It happens usually on the 3rd Sunday of February, every year on the occasion of worldwide Great Backyard Bird Count. It is an open-to-all event, where beginners get an opportunity to learn about bird identification, counting techniques, behavior on the field. Another focus of this event is to obtain an annual snapshot of the bird diversity of Durgapur Barrage and long-term monitoring.
The Durgapur barrage, located in Durgapur, West Bengal, India, is a well-known site for birdwatching due to its diverse avian population. The Durgapur barrage attracts both resident and migratory bird species. You can expect to see waterfowl, waders, kingfishers, egrets, herons, lapwings, and various raptors. The specific species you encounter will depend on the season and prevailing environmental conditions.
