The formation of a Village Committee under the Indian Grey Wolf Conservation Project (CCP-WWF)

POSTED ON: 15 July 2024

In an effort to ensure the conservation of Indian Grey Wolves, a significant step has been taken by WINGS.

The formation of a Village Committee under the Indian Grey Wolf Conservation Project (CCP-WWF) at Saraswati Ganj village of Garh Jungle area in Durgapur marks a pivotal step in the preservation of these remarkable animals. By actively involving the residents of Saraswati Ganj village, the project recognizes the significance of local engagement and active participation in conservation initiatives. This approach fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the conservation of the Indian Grey Wolves and its natural habitat.

The Village Committee can also serve as a valuable resource for gathering local knowledge about the behaviour and movement patterns of the Indian Grey Wolves. This indigenous knowledge can be integrated into conservation efforts, contributing to a deeper understanding of the species and its interactions with the surrounding environment.
